Starting Work for Stafford House
A few weeks before the start of your contract, you will receive "joining instructions". These will tell you where the centre is and give instructions on how to get there by public transport or by car. If you do not receive these, you can also download the information from our recruitment website
from the start of May.

Teaching Materials
Many teachers want to know how many of their own books to bring. You can bring
as much, or as little as you are comfortable with. There will be
plenty of supplementary material and books available at the centre. However,
we encourage teachers to bring along their own resources, assuming they are
suitable for the age groups you may be teaching. There are also many online
resource pages for teachers.
Getting to the centre
You should receive "joining instructions" a few weeks prior to the start of your contract.
All staff members should be at the centre for the Induction Session by 9am on their first contracted day. Please remember that this is NOT the same as your first teaching day. Attendance at the Induction Session is a company requirement for all members of staff.
Stafford House Study Holidays does not pay expenses for people travelling to the centres. You will have to make your own way to the centre, leaving enough time to arrive promptly. For information on the budget airlines flying into the UK click here.
What to expect at Induction
There are 4 main areas that are covered in the Induction and it is vital that every staff member attends all of them.
- Firstly, all the staff members together will be given a General and Welfare induction. This will introduce staff to summer school work, contractual requirements, statutory Health and Safety briefings, school rules and student welfare training. This session will take at least 1 hour 30 minutes.
- Secondly, there will be a job-specific induction. Staff members will split into groups with different members of the management team, and have another 1 hour 30 minute session on the specifics of their roles within the summer schools.
- Thirdly, all staff members will join up again for Activity Training. Here, the Activities Manager will guide the staff through the Health and Safety, legal issues, and key components of the activities programme.
- Finally, all staff members will be taken on a tour of the campus, incorporating a local induction to the grounds and accommodation by the Welfare team.
All staff must understand the importance of the induction and that attendance is mandatory. Most of the sessions carry legal implications, which mean they must be completed fully, and it must be checked that all staff have understood what they have heard.
